FAIRHOPE, Ala. (AP) — Heavy rains swamped parts of coastal Alabama on Monday, causing minor flooding in some areas, and forecasters said additional storms would bring more precipitation.

Water covered several roads in Fairhope, located on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay, after a band of storms moved across the area, and authorities said additional problems could occur as rains continued.

At least 2 inches (5.08 centimeters) and as much as 6 inches (15.24 centimeters) of rain is possible across much of Alabama through Wednesday night, the National Weather Service said, and a flash flood watch extended from the Alabama-Tennessee line to beaches on the Florida Panhandle.
